"Let go of your attachment to being right,
and suddenly your mind is more open.
You're able to benefit from the unique
viewpoints of others, without being crippled
by your own judgment." --Ralph Marston
"The world must be made safe for democracy. Its peace must be planted upon the tested foundations of political
liberty. We have no selfish ends to serve. We desire no conquest, no dominion. We seek no indemnities for
ourselves, no material compensation for the sacrifices we shall freely make." --Woodrow Wilson
A Message from the BalancedPolitics.org Creator
my name is Joe Messerli. I'm a technology consultant from Green Bay, WI and obviously a politics & news
junkie. I hope you've enjoyed my website, or at least learned a thing or two.
Although I think it's impossible for any writer to prevent their biases from seeping into their work,
I've done my best to do just that. To be fair, I must reveal that most of my personal opinions lean to the
conservative/libertarian side of things.
I feel that if you adhere to all of the beliefs of a certain
political affiliation, then you're likely only exploring one side of the issues. Despite the trend of
American thought, it's ok to be in the middle on many issues. It's ok to
waver on your positions as you collect
more information. It's ok to believe a party you normally always support is wrong on a particular issue.
If you get one thing from this website, and only one--an increased tendency to keep an open mind and explore the other
side of issues you feel so strongly about--then I will have accomplished my mission. Remember, as the old adage goes, "A mind
once expanded never returns to its original size".
I'm always eager to hear feedback and suggestions from visitors. Your comments are essential to making this
website truly balanced, non-partisan, and informative.
